Fly Fishing Charters

Since the mid 1980’s, Captain Darrell Johnson has spent his winters and springs pursuing steelhead on the majestic rivers of the Olympic Peninsula: the Sol Duc, Hoh, Calawah, Bogachiel, and Clearwater Rivers. The breathtaking scenery and large runs of eager biting native steelhead make this the perfect venue to pursue his passion for fly fishing. Over the past two decades, Darrell’s passion for fly fishing has taken him to the far corners of the globe in pursuit of every fish imaginable, many of these to various flats fishing destinations which immediately became his favorite type of fishing (or hunting is what he calls it), where he found an immediate passion for fishing his favorite quarry on a fly rod, the tarpon! If you have never fished for tarpon, it should be at the top of your bucket list!

Express Albacore Tuna

Westport, WA

Go to the nearest overpass, drop a fishing line over the side, hook onto a passing car doing 40+ MPH and try to stop it! This is a close as I can discribe what hooking a tuna on live bait is like, CONTROLLED CHAOS! Westport Washington has rapidly become the most popular and productive destination on the entire west coast to pursue albacore tuna. The close proximity to Seattle, Tacoma, Olympia and Portland makes it the perfect destination for your tuna adventure.

Far Corners offers 1-day express tuna charters that depart at or just before first light, with 6 anglers. We arrive at the tuna grounds in 1 1/4 to 2 hours in a specially designed 31' tuna catching machine called "Tunacious". She has the speed, fuel capacity, comfortable dry ride, bait and fish hold capacity to make your trip an unforgettable adventure of a lifetime. We spend 8 hours chasing these hard fighting darts before heading back to port (unless we fill the boat early).

Key West Tarpon

Key West, FL

If I were to custom design a game fish it would be large, acrobatic, hard fighting, and it would live in the flats where it could be sight fished and be challenging, not only to hook, but to land. The tarpon has it all! Key West is home to the best tarpon fishing anywhere in the world. The tarpon migration arrives in Key West in April and continues into July. These fish show up by the thousands joining the hordes of local tarpon, and are hungry from their long journey. We target these amazing fighters out of 17’ flats skiffs, both on the ocean flats and in the back country waters. As an angler on these trips, you will experience the thrill of sight fishing for these prehistoric fish in as shallow as 2 feet of water. Although our passion is to fly fish for tarpon, we are not purists in this fishery, and employ many different tactics including live bait and artificials when the weather is not conducive to fly fishing.
